What’s the difference between cardio workouts and running?

I’ve always thought that cardio is just cardio, no matter what, and that running is just a boring option that falls under that category. But is running more effective than doing some kind of cardio workout for about 45 minutes?

Comments:

The intent of both is somewhat same that is to burn calories. But fat burning is solely intended towards loosing weight by sheding those extra fats on the other hand cardio workout could be intented towards improving stamina, improving flexibility or may be towards general fittness.Well you may also say fat burning is a more intense form of cardio.Well yes both are a form of aerobics .Anaerobics is intense training using weights that is done to increase lean mass or build strength.

There is no difference running falls under cardio. Cardio is any form of exercise that get your heart pumping significantly and cardio is as effective as the intensity you keep your heartbeat at.

running is inclusive in the overall category of cardio. Not all cardio is running. It is effective in that it burns more calories than biking or swimming because it involves more muscle groups but if you cannot find running interesting then any other option is probably the best option.

Running is only as boring as you make it, but most running (actually jogging) isn’t cardio, it’s an aerobic exercise.

Cardio is a sustained or interval exercise above 65% of the MHR with the intent of increasing the body’s cardio-respiratory efficiency. Cardio primarily burns carbohydrates as fuel. The body’s supply will typically wear out after 30-45 minutes.

Aerobic exercise, or that which is done below 65% of max HR primarily uses fat as fuel. As you can imagine, the human body has a nearly endless supply of fat for energy.
